you rest like a second-term president

I'm a bit formulaic in the posting scheme of things; photo, synopsis, wit, link, album year...so...I've punched a guy! I don't know what you were doing at 5pm yesterday afternoon but I listened to Triple J's Live At The Wireless recording of Fleet Foxes playing in Sydney early this year, and they are great live...at the wireless. Try and podcast or something if you missed it. Anyway, here's some formulae, several, so it's okay:

From Why?'s 2005 album Elephant Eyelash. The album is less fluid than Alopecia (2007) by way of its comparatively sparse use of synth, more acoustic stuff as in this song (which is not an accurate representation of the whole), etc.; much more like the general conception of a band and album, and it has far less dense lyrical blocks, and also a less-subtle abundance of similes...but it's still great like a subway reaching through a New York sidewalk...(Grate; anyone? No? No takers? Simile?)

And their cover of 'Close To Me' by The Cure, which was made great like something magni-ficent. I'm yet to hear something related to Yoni Wolf which I haven't liked, he was in cLOUDDEAD, by the by.

Voxtrot once did a pretty good cover of Love Vigilantes - one of my three favourite songs by New Order - and you can download the live recording of it free along with heaps of other free Voxtrot documentary-type podcasts on their iTunes page.

Speaking of iTunes, I couldn't host it because it's 10MB's great, but on the Jon Brion Remix - EP (available from iTunes Store, hence segue), there is an extended version (8:16) of Gallery Piece by of Montreal, which is worth the $1.69 or, if you're slightly more generous, the $8whathaveyou for the EP itself.
