The theory other than he's gone all el pan de mais, el pan de mais, el pan de mais sin sal is that because he is currently having a documentary (or mockumentary) made about him and his transition from acting to hip-hop, this stuff in the interview was part of his image...Okay, sure.
It's like Commodus from Gladiator but with more beard, more weird and less scripted.
